I used my card to purchase minutes in the app, but somehow my account got hacked and my card information was stolen to purchase minutes I did not authorize and that didn’t go on my phone. I called Tracfone to report it, but they did not do anything for me to get that $40 back nor the minutes that were purchased using my card. I was just told to change my password. Imagine that you are driving at night and your car breaks down (you’re a woman in this scenario). You go to call for a service or a friend, but none of your calls will go through. Only now do you realize that you are out of minutes. You can buy more, but it will take several minutes for them to be applied. During that time you could be killed by a serial killer.
I’m exaggerating a little bit, but I’ve been caught in several bad situations without minutes or data (no maps). I’ve left feedback in their surveys asking for a warning notification when you’re running low several times, and I know friends of mine have, too. They also are now plan-based, which is totally different from what they set out to be. I’m done with TracFone because I don’t feel safe with it.

Beats the monthly bill from previous cell phones

Was complaining about the high monthly cell phone bill for our family’s 4 cell phones. Brother in-law said he switched to tracfone.
I said “no thanks” my daughter had one years ago as a teen. We had to remember to add a service card every three months or would loose her minutes.
He informed me a one year service card could be purchased.
We did change to tracfone and are paying only about a fourth of our old bill. We do have a landline phone at home. So that saves on phone minutes.
